Why is Hair Quality so Important?

Why is Hair Quality so Important?

The #1 factor in determining how satisfied you are with your hair extensions is hair quality

Having good quality hair extensions will allow you to style your extensions just like your own hair and it will act and feel just like your natural hair. On the other hand, having poor quality extensions installed can be a nightmare. Many companies offer "Remy" hair extensions, but what does that really mean?

The term "Remy Human Hair" means that all the cuticles are intact and running in the same direction. This is important as the hair will not tangle and will last a lot longer. However, there is no authority on the use of the word Remy, so many companies offer low quality non-Remy hair and label it Remy.

If you have ever had extensions that feel great for about a week or two but then dry up and start to tangle you have had non-Remy hair installed. Below is a guide that describes the different types of hair, price ranges and how to know if you are getting good quality hair.

So how do you know if your getting good quality hair?

Here are a couple of things to look for:

  1. Price: Overall if the hair is cheap then its not Remy hair
  2. Cuticle Description: The packaging or listing should have details about the cuticles of the hair
  3. Feel: Does the hair feel plastic-y, is it super shiny, does it shed a lot? Are there lots of broken hairs? If so, the hair is non-Remy hair disguised as Remy hair.
