It’s Not Just About Length.
Every install is different. Density, natural hair, and the desired result all change the strand thickness and number of bundles you’ll need.
To choose the right combination, you need to consider:
Your client’s natural density
Finer hair requires fewer bundles while thicker hair needs more to blend.
The strand type you’re using
Regular vs. thick strands will impact how much hair you need to achieve the same result.
The haircut and baseline shape
Blunt cuts usually need more bundles, while layered or tapered ends require less.
Our Strand Guide
Choose the right density based on your client’s hair and desired result
Regular Strands
Regular strands are ideal for ALL hair densities
and are the safest option for delicate or thinner hair.
When to use:
Fine hair
Layering
Natural movement
Thick Strands
Thick strands are designed for clients with thick hair or when a fuller, more voluminous finish is desired.
When to use:
Dense hair
Building fullness
Dramatic volume
You can also mix densities to customize your blend—visit our
Pro Access page to learn how to use
both together effectively.
Our Bundle Guide
Below are our general guidelines to help you determine how much hair is needed for a balanced, natural-looking install based on your client’s density and desired result.
| Volume Only | Add Length | Add Significant Length (26") | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thin Hair | 1–2 bundles | 3–4 bundles | 5–6 bundles |
| Normal Hair | 2–3 bundles | 5–6 bundles | 6–7 bundles |
| Thick Hair | 3–4 bundles | 6–7 bundles | 8–9 bundles |
*Thin, normal, and thick in this guide refer to the client’s overall hair density, not the thickness of individual strands. A client may have fine strands but a lot of hair, which would still be considered normal or thick density.
How Your Haircut Affects Bundle Count
To choose the right amount of bundles for your client, it’s important to take haircut shape into consideration. Once you’ve identified your client’s density range from above, use the guidelines below to choose the right bundle amount based on their haircut.
Tapered/Wispy Haircuts
You can usually choose the lower end of the bundle range. For example, if the guide suggests 5-6 bundles, choose 5.
Blunt/One-Length Haircuts
Choose the higher end of the bundle range to create a seamless blend. For example, if the guide suggests 5-6 bundles, choose 6.
Strand Weight & Options
Our nano extensions are available in different strand weights depending on length and density. Choosing the right strand size helps you control both the fullness and the number of bundles needed for each install.
